Recently I started
writing songs for a Dutch as second language course. For this project I will
work with some nice Dutch guest vocalists. Because the songs are not in
English, they will not be released under the Clemm moniker. More info soon!

In only a few days
time Far From Arcadia will be
available. The song Clay Puppets has already become Hit of the Week on Radio Mortale and
today the first (and very positive) review of the new album appeared, it’s by
3voor12...
There are also a
couple of shows coming up (see the gigs-section). Visual artists Quim
Llorens, Carla Pontes & Hypnoteis are now working on some intriguing
videos that will guide our music during live performances. Quim will also
come along to shows as our light engineer. Hope to see you there!

For Clemm's upcoming
second full-length album Far From
Arcadia, I have joined forces with Tom van Nuenen (guitar, backing
vocals). After about 1,5 years of homerecording we paid a visit to Martijn
Groeneveld’s Mailmen
studio where we recorded live drums (played by Maarten Diesfeldt) and did the
mixing and mastering. Other people who feature on the album are Milan Mes
(trumpet), Pedro Risnei da Silva (pandeiro), Beto Guerra (cavaquinho + vocal
percussion) and Carla Pontes (backing vocals). At this moment the record is finished
but we are still checking for the best way to distribute it. While you are
probably desperately waiting to hear the official release date, you can
already listen to a couple of the new songs on our myspace.
Far From Arcadia symbolises a fresh start for Clemm. After years of working with guest
vocalists, I decided to sing the songs myself. Furthermore, you will notice
that the new songs are more personal, urgent and lyrically direct and cover a
wide range of styles like pop, electro, hiphop and indierock. As of now, we
are rehearsing with our 4-piece liveband and shooting our first video. Keep

news on Far From Arcadia and other exciting things to come.

YouEcho vs Clemm – Plug-in Hymns
Just to let u know,
I've been working on new tracks with Frans van Gastel (YouEcho). Earlier work
by us was released under the monniker Flugroove. Soon we will come up with an
online-album called Plug-in Hymns.

Clemm was already one of the artists who
have been selected for Popronde
2008 and now it turned out that “A Lily and a Frown” will also feature on
the new Popronde-cd. This cd will be released on the 12th of
september at the start of the Popronde in Nijmegen. Right now, I’m working on
my new album. Stay tuned for more news about that.

Lots of stuff happening behind the
curtains…many cool songs coming up, Clemm seems to be evolving, changing
shape, shifting gears, in other words: alive!
From now on Clemm can also be seen on stage as part
of the Cabin Kollektiv, playing new songs. The following description has been

Cabin Kollektiv: Connecting Cabins
We are proud
to present u a new concept: three separate artists performing together,
playing eachother’s songs as one band or collective, so to say. Connecting
Cabins is the name of an audio-visual live performance by the Cabin
Kollektiv, which consists of three artists from the Cabin Music label.
Ranging from YouEcho’s cinematic
soundscapes via Clemm’s dreamy
electronic popsongs to Tom van Nuenen’s
more uptempo hi-fi singer/songwriter melodies, there’s enough ear- and
eyepleasing material for all of you.
We at Cabin
Music actually think this concept is unique, which we admit is quite a big
word. Ofcourse there are loads of bands that have more songwriters (Beatles,
anyone?), but three separate artists? No, to us that’s new, but if u know
about some obscure or famous collective (and no, we’re not talking about that
one song Beyoncé and Shakira did together), please mail us about it. We are
the first to admit we’re wrong.
If u want to
know what Cabin Music is all about, we would advise u to come and pay these
lads a visit.

Saturday afternoon April 5th, between
16:00 and 18:00 C.E.T., Clemm will do a special intimate set at De Balie in Amsterdam (near
Leidseplein). We will play about 6 songs in between interviews (in Dutch)
with playwright Willem de Wolf and writer/psychologist/artist Cornel Bierens.
For everyone who doesn’t speak Dutch, De Balie does serve some nice food and
drinks, so there is no reason not to come;) Be a bit early, because there are
only about 80 seats available. Entrance = free. For more info, please check

Hi everyone, there will be a special Clemm-release
coming up in only a few months time! It will appear as an internet
(free-download) release with remixes and reinterpretations of songs of the
last Clemm album, which will be gathered under the name “Reconsider the Lilies”. There will be a lot of cool artists
involved, so keep checking this site or the myspace-site to stay informed.
Next to that I am working on a
lot of new songs for the second full-length and I’m so enthusiastic about
them that I find it hard to keep them for myself. We will however play more
and more new songs in our liveset, so come and see us if you’re curious what
they will be like.
Now that my internet problems
have been solved, I’m very glad I can keep you up-to-date on a more regular

Last night Clemm has reached the Finals of the Amsterdamse Popprijs..we’d like to thank everyone who
came to see us yesterday and we are very sorry for those of you who couldn’t
get in the Paradiso, because it was sold out. The Finals will take place in
Melkweg (The Max) on the 24th of November (21.00 C.E.T.).

Clemm is through to the semi-finals of the Amsterdamse Popprijs, which will take place at the
Paradiso on the 24th of October. Doors open at 20.30, first band
starts at 21.00 CET. It would be greatly appreciated if you would come and
support us!
Next to preparing songs with the
live band, I just wanted to let you know that I started working on a bunch of
new tracks. I know it’s way too early, but I even made up the album-title and
theme already…but I won’t tell you, cause that’s my little secret.

This afternoon I was interviewed by Jaap Boots at
the VPRO/NPS studio’s in Hilversum. Jaap is a nice guy, so I’ve been talking
quite a lot about my music, my youth, my eclectic musical taste and being a
sensitive boy in general;) Next to that you can hear ten of my favorite

Yesterday the very first gig
with the new liveband took place and we really enjoyed it. YouEcho has

Amsterdam. This is a first round of the so-called “Amsterdamse Popprijs”,
organised by GRAP. Come

Hello, lots of good news today! For the upcoming
two weeks Clemm will be featured as “cd-tip” on the well-visited NPI-site
(NPI stands for Dutch National Pop Institute). Three songs of the cd can be
listened there.
Another very good thing is that
my cd’s will be available at all Plato-shops throughout the Netherlands!! OK, time to go
on a small holiday…back next week…

In the new Dutch Fret-magazine there is an article on the use of Myspace and
online networking. I’m one of the interviewed artists and they used the
following quote by me alongside the article (very roughly translated):
“Remembering that Myspace is designed as a network enabling people to suck up
to other people, is a good way to keep your feet on the ground.” What I meant
to say with this is, that when you get lots of compliments on these kind of
websites, you can never be sure what the real intention of the comment is. I
truly hope that most of them are sincere, but I’m sure there are quite a few
people (especially when they are selling something themselves) just trying to
give some extra attention to their own product. And you know what, I can’t
even blame them either..we’re all trying to make a living out of what we love
to do. Convinced? Can you please buy my record now? Haha.
